RSPB Fairburn Ings contacted TI Security after a recent installation at their St Aidan’s site. They were so pleased with the look of their Automatic Swing Gate Leeds that they asked for the same to be installed at their Fairburn Ings site in Castleford, preventing anyone from entering the site out of hours.
RSPB Fairburn Ings is a nature reserve in Yorkshire that has recorded as many as 280 bird species, some of which pass through on migration with others utilising the fantastic diversity of habitats on site. From feeding the ducks to pond dipping as well as woodland, wetland and grassland trails, they have everything for the perfect family day out. It was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 1957 and since the late 1970s has been managed by the RSPB on behalf of local naturalists who set it up. The reserve is situated in the Lower Aire Valley, to the south and west of Fairburn village, near Castleford.
Automatic Swing Gate Castleford
The RSPB Fairburn Ings Visitor Car Park entrance had manual Swing Gates Castleford that were old, not visible on a night and easily bypassed. They wanted business Swing Security Gates in Castleford similar to those installed at their site in Great Preston – RSPB St Aidan’s. We recommended a pair of 1.2m high metal Swing Gates with mesh infill, galvanised and powder coated in blue, solving the visibility issue. The car park gates provide up to an 8m wide clear opening and are installed across the entrance of the site’s car park.
Swing Gate Castleford access ease and Gate Safety
With the swing gate located at the entrance to a nature reserve, it is used by members of the public all year round and is close to several villages so it was essential that any health and safety risks were identified and removed which included installing Automation safety warning signs, safety edging and Infra-Red Photocells. For the RSPB’s staff and their customers to gain easy access we installed a 7-day timeclock which is programmed to open and close the gates at a set time in the morning and evening; this also included a 1 button surface mounted Audio Intercom, that when pressed calls up to 3 numbers. Upon answering, you can speak directly through the intercom unit and remotely unlock the gate via your handset.
Castleford
Castleford is a town in Wakefield that dates back to Roman times, with evidence pointing to Castleford being built upon a Roman army settlement. Burberry, the retailer and designer label, has a facility in Castleford, with Nestlé previously having a large factory there which produced chocolate bars. Castleford is less than a mile away from the M62 at Junction 32 via the A656 road. There are other A-roads that cross the town and provide access to Junction 31 on the same motorway.
