RSPB St Aidan’s contacted TI Security after looking online for a local automatic business swing security gate company. They wanted to protect their perimeter and to deter people from entering their site when closed, reducing chances of vandalism.
RSPB St Aidan’s is a 990-acre nature park between Leeds and Castleford; the land was an opencast coal mine that flooded in 1988 after the riverbank collapsed, with mining stopping at St Aidan’s in 2002. The park opened to the public in May 2013 under the care of RSPB for bird watching, cycling, walking, jogging, horse riding and dog walking – the perfect place for families. St Aidan’s is adjacent to the River Aire and the Aire and Calder Navigation and can be accessed via a network of paths, allowing visitors from all areas to enjoy the wildlife around them.
Automatic Swing Gate Leeds
RSPB St Aidan’s knew they wanted an automatic gate to limit entrance to the car park when closed. Their existing gates required removing as they had become old and rusty and no longer complemented the park. We recommended a pair of 1.2m high metal swing gates with mesh infill, galvanised and powder coated in blue with an 8m wide clear opening and a manual override for safety. We ensured the Swing Gate Leeds were installed to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC with automation safety warning signs, induction loops, safety edging and infra-red photocells.
Access Control System
A 7-day digital time clock was installed on the Swing Gate Leeds to open and close the automatic swing security gates at a set time in the morning and evening. This included a surface mounted audio intercom, allowing the gates to be unlocked and opened when the intercom handset unit is pressed enabling visitors to be allowed access remotely.
